the poster above says it right! there was this crazy feeling in the air right before the boys went into Rollover..standing on the soundboard cable front row center, dancing, smiling and completely absorbed in the moment. The transition left this silent space and everyone slowed their freeking and waited for those notes that signaled the next song. A mist was hanging around the stage and the lights were perfect when the opening riff of Rollover began! listen close you can hear me say "whats it called" at the end of Buggin Out. Ron White, pics at FOC, needed setlist info and we couldn't name that tune! enjoy, this show rocked!

Very Strong Cheese
This is a very strong evening of the cheese. Phil and friends crew had just broke camp so it was devoted cheese heads that remained. SCI played so hard it sounded magical(a lot of the shows in 2001 did). Many people say that the Taxman was the highlight, I feel the entire show was the best on the mid west summer run after the 2 Iowa Incidents. Pure magic.

A look back to River's Edge; day 2 FRIDAY THE 13TH)
What a long hot day it was. We had driven from Omaha,Ne the day before to see the two nights of shows. After the first night we slept in my car(3 of us in 99 Dodge Neon) at some sort of rest stop about 20 miles from the grounds.
Woke up with my feet hangin out the window being eatin alive by flies.
Made it in half way through Flying frog brigade,I dig the band and Les Claypool but I don't really care much for Les' vocal sound on songs like Shine on you crazy Diamond. The Big Wu was great but it was so hot , I didn't feel like dancing. plus, the day before one of the others with me had an aesthma attack due to all the dry dust in the air, or something like that.
Cheese came out strong with a Best Feeling, and it was nice to see Chris from the Wu up there playing, but it was still hot. We chilled out in the shade until the second set when it was finally cooling down San jose for the second set, nicely done, I beleive it was Billy who made some coment about it being Dairy country so instead of yelling "woo" towards the end of the song, everyone should yell "moo".Nice fun twist.
A little later on in the set they brought out Les Claypool for "taxman", I had seen them do this song about three days ealier with Karl Denson and some of his band, that version was a little tighter and the horns added alot, but you can't take away from the presence that Les brings on stage. A nice version including some Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver Teases. I love Les' phat bass sound. Then they brought out Skerik on saxaphone I believe, A great fun Jellyfish with Billy calling the girl in the story Matilda instead of Alice. But what really did it for me was the Rollover which is still one of my most memorable to date, tight and nicelyt jammed. Great show, except fot Good Times Around the Bend as an encore I expected something more rockin. oh well I had a blast. So on the road I went for both Cheese's and mine's first visit to Alpine Valley
